Valley Forge

In the winter of 1777 and early 1778, George Washington held his forces in the small town of Valley Forge, despite the ever deepening misery of the unnaturally cold winter and his poor supply lines. An estimated 3000 men died of the cold.

By April and May 1778, Washington’s men have substantively recovered and are training aggressively with recently arrived French soldiers, in preparation for renewed conflict.
